Business Development Manager, UK

We are on a growth journey and looking for an experienced successor in the role of Business Development Manager, Building Solutions, who will act as a “market developer” to grow our business in the United Kingdom. The position reports to Sales Director Building Solutions Western Europe, Wood Products - Gareth Mason. We are building a sustainable future for the world and you will be part of it. You will work in an international team with a wide geographical scope in your own work.

 

You can be located in our office premises in London Bridge or be home based.

 

Based on your excellent knowledge of the construction market’s characteristics and dynamics, you will identify business opportunities and answer various stakeholder enquiries. You will get in contact mainly with non-buying customers (influencers like investors, architects, engineers or developers) and convince them of our products (CLT, LVL, …) and mass timber building concepts (Residential, commercial, education, industrial etc.). An understanding of architectural and building engineering design is of key benefit for the role, so to help educate and aid building designers and all construction stakeholders in the technical aspects of mass timber design. In doing so, you will make sure our sales pipeline is always well filled with projects and possible clients and work closely with our buying customers to close deals.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:

 

  • To promote and grow the use of mass timber components for construction in the UK and Ireland
  • Working with all stakeholders (Architects, Engineer, Developers, Main Contractors, Investors) to help aid feasibility studies and give technical advice on mass timber construction
  • Work closely with Sales managers to find and develop new customers to the point of sale. 
  • Events Management for both external and internal events
  • Give presentations / CPD’s and public speaking opportunities on mass timber construction
  • Follow current trends and help R&D towards the development of new products in the industry
  • Working with both internal and external consultants for the PR & Marketing of projects and products in the UK, creating and managing content for both published and digital articles / advertising.
  • Work with CRM systems to manage and follow current project opportunities & possible clients.

Qualifications


In order to succeed in this role, you will have:

 

  • Prior experience in Sales, Marketing, Business Development in the building / construction area.  
  • Prior experience in mass timber design, estimating or construction management
  • Good technical skills and understanding of wood construction / construction in general. 
  • Understanding of Architectural design or structural timber engineering design.
  • Good in identifying customer needs and challenges and coming up with appropriate solutions and offers.  
  • Superior customer relation skills. 
  • Excellent (public) presentation, speaking and communication skills  
  • A good negotiator, who can close deals. 
  • Very structured working approach and good self-management. 
  • Be highly self motivated.
  • Highly developed team spirit. 
  • Willingness to travel 
  • Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office, CRM, etc.) 
  • Fluent English 
  • Have a good understanding of national building codes and the construction business value chain
  • Have a strong network in the building industry
