Wood Products division provides versatile wood-based solutions for building and housing. Our product range covers all areas of construction, including massive wood elements,

wood components and sawn goods. We also offer pellets for sustainable heating. Our customers are mainly merchants and retailers, industrial integrators and construction companies.


Safety Manager, Näpi sawmill

We are looking for a safety leader to drive and develop our safety culture and our safety agenda.


Your role will be to continuously improve the mill Safety culture and awareness about hazards, risks and safe working methods. The focus is to align and intensify our efforts in Occupational

Health and Safety in all units of to reach our ambitious Safety targets. Your location will be Näpi sawmill and you will be working in Wood Products division.


The main responsibilities for the position will be: 
-    Drive the mill Safety Action plan to be prioritized by the Mill Director
-    Active member of the Mill management team
-    Lead the implementation and development of the processes of Safety Toolbox 2.0
-    Coordinate Safety audits and inspection of facilities, machinery and Safety equipment to identify and correct potential risks and to ensure Safety regulation compliance
-    Lead investigation of accidents, near-miss incidents and occupational injuries to determine causes and install preventive measures
-    Coordinate employee Safety reporting and programs, including review of short and long term strategic Safety planning and development
-    Enforce compliance of the rules and regulations that applies for the mill based on:
-    Applicable local safety laws and regulations
-    Group and division Safety procedures
-    Output and findings from e.g risk assessments and incident investigations   
-    Spends his/ her working time 50 % minimum in the mill e.g. training, observing, coaching and investigating


Requirements for the applicants:

-    Bachelor degree and professional education or similar
-    Either 3-5 years of field Safety experience or working in a role in operations with very strong connection to Safety Management
-    Estonian and English, due to networking and training personnel in start-up phase; Russian is recommended
-    Knowledge about best Safety practices, leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks and the ability to raise Safety awareness
-    Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations and rules
-    Very good know how of MS Office and Outlook
-    Ability to build trust and confidence with management and employees on all levels
-    Comprehensive view with excellent analytical skills and persistence in order to get things done
-    Ability to cooperate, having a natural interest to involve people and support others
-    Consultation skills
-    Coaching skills 
-    Excellent and clear communication
-    Accuracy and a quality-oriented mindset
-    Flexibility, able of coping with stress and a fast-paced working environment
-    Knowledge in Change Management


The position reports to Mill Manager
