Director, Precision Forestry Program 


We are looking for a Director, to lead Stora Enso global development in digitalizing forest operations - Precision Forestry. In this position, you will ensure capturing the business benefits of technology- and digital development of forest information in Stora Enso forestry and wood supply business processes. You will report to SVP, Forest Assets. The location of the position is flexible, but preferably either in Stockholm or Falun, Sweden or Helsinki, Finland.

Stora Enso Forest operations cover the management of appr 2,0 million hectars of forests and plantations with the value of 7,3 bEur. Stora Enso wood supply operations manage the sourcing and supply of 42 million m3 of wood annually to group’s mills. Stora Enso has set up a global program to ensure full benefits of rapid digital development in collecting managing and utilizing forest related information in its forest operations. We are searching for energetic, competent and experienced person to lead Stora Enso Precision Forestry Program.


About the position 


As a Director, Precision Forestry Program your task is to lead Stora Enso global development in Precision Forestry. You will ensure capturing the benefits of technology- and digital development of forest information in Stora Enso forestry and wood supply business processes.

In this role you will coordinate and prioritize development work in deep co-operation with Stora Enso forestry units to reach maximum business benefits and synergies. You will support forestry units in process development to capture the benefits of improved forest data.

You are a highly analytical and proactive, with the ability to work in a matrix organization, and strong teamwork and communication approach. You also have the skill to get things moving without formal power and have a solutions and future oriented thinking.

About you 


In order to succeed in this role, you have more than 10 years of relevant experience (forestry industry background is a plus). You have solid understanding of forestry, forest resource information and wood supply business processes are used to work in an international environment, and you have proven leadership experience in large projects and programs and/or in operations.


Knowledge of technology and digital development in forest related information, including remote sensing, lidar and sensor technologies, data analytics, AI, and modelling is a prerequisite. Your proficiency is based on a university degree in forestry, technology or other relevant studies and you have proven business experience to lead and coordinate various development streams in complex, global environment. Ability to conceptualize and create logical and understandable description of development vision and ability to communicate it both towards business and digital development  is a must.

As a person, you are highly self-motivated with an ability to both inspire and motivate others. You have excellent communication skills online and written materials and face to face. You have excellent Business English, both verbal and written. Finnish and Swedish is an advantage. This position requires some travelling.
